Happy 40th Birthday to the Yorkshire Wolds Way
This October sees the 40th anniversary of the Yorkshire Wolds Way. The Wolds Way is probably the least well-known of our National Trails. It is a beautiful, quiet part of the country, with a lack of commercialism making this one of our most popular and lovely walks. It is 78 miles long, starting at the Humber Estuary, finishing on Yorkshire coast traversing the gentle chalk hills of the Yorkshire Wolds. The trail was originally an initiative of the Ramblers Association and went on to become the tenth National Trail launched by the then Countryside Commission. We, at Brigantes, pride ourselves on knowing the best places to stay and have our own driver to deliver clients bags along the way. Brigantes organised the C2C for me and I was extremely satisfied with the experience. All the accommodation very good, some of it superb. Only once did I not get my bags immediately when arriving at my destination, not due to Brigantes but to the inn where I was staying, but then help was readily available from Brigantes over the telephone to sort out the problem. I would not hesitate in recommending Brigantes to long-distance walkers!
We walked the Herriot Way using Brigantes as a baggage courier. Their service was excellent, and the gentleman who collected the cases each morning was punctual, friendly and professional. The walk itself was fantastic, through some of England’s most stunning countryside; the weather was kind and the pubs and B&Bs charming. Stuart Greig’s Guidebook is essential. Strongly recommended!
