This walk was made even more memorable by the efficient support from Annette when my friend developed some very bad blisters and it became clear we would have to adjust our plan. One call to Brigantes explaining our situation, requesting some changes was acted on swiftly (on a Saturday afternoon) and by the next morning we had a confirmatory text enabling us to really enjoy the last few days of our holiday. The walk is lovely with lots of variety, we didn’t meet many other walkers so it was quiet, and our accommodation was good. We particularly enjoyed The Antlers at Belford, Haven House at Beadnell, The Old Granary at Alnmouth and The Northumberland Arms at Felton. Luggage delivery was faultless and when we needed a taxi this was provided on time with a pleasant driver. Thank you Brigantes ,I shall recommend the company to other walkers.

This was a delightful walk with, as they say ‘everything’ – fantastic beaches, historic castles and churches, some great woodland and ending on the Roman Wall. If you are able to start from Holy Island be warned that the route over the sands is not easy to navigate with boots on until some time after the ‘safe’ period starts: the water takes some time to run off. But if you can start with low tide during the middle of the day, this will continue for the next two days’ walking, much of which can be done on huge, empty beaches – what a delight! The accommodation was varied but all grand, and baggage transfer worked, as usual, 100%.
